What is your name?
My name is Vivian Peña

Where are you from?
I’m from Allentown, PA

What is your occupation?
I run my own photography business specializing in fashion and lifestyle portraits.

Why did you decide to embrace the #natural look and allow the #NaturalMe to stand out?
It’s been 3 years since I decided to embrace my natural hair and I am so glad I did. Growing up I was always embarrassed of my curly hair because it was “ugly” and just not “in style” apparently, so I always straightened it. I followed a few curly hair beauty bloggers to get advice on how to style my curly hair, and I learned how straightening it caused so much damage. That is when I decided to stop straightening my hair for good because I wanted to have beautiful healthy curls and learn to love who I am, a natural curly haired Latina.

What would you say to a woman who is struggling with low self-confidence or low self esteem.
I’ve learned low self esteem comes from comparing yourself to others and listening to what other people think of you. It’s not easy to ignore comments other people make, trust me, I know. But we can’t live our lives giving people control over what we think about ourselves. Life is too short for that. We are all unique and beautiful women and we need to live our lives in a way that makes us happy. So rock your hair however you like it, wear the clothes that you feel your absolute best in, and be proud of who you are.  Embrace your beautiful, unique self because this world needs more of you.
